The New Accounting Tools Helping Firms Work Smarter

Something interesting is happening in the accounting world right now. A new generation of tech-savvy accountants (both young and old) are building tools specifically designed to make life easier for themselves and other accountants. These tools are solving very practical problems inside accounting firms… from client onboarding to workflow automation and better financial insights.
Over the last year I’ve been discovering some incredibly clever products that are tackling challenges we all face day to day. Two that over the last year or so that have caught my attention are XOnboard and Ezyiah. I have used both in my businesses and really rate them.
XOnboard is addressing one of the most painful processes in many accounting firms - onboarding. Anyone who has run a practice knows how messy and time-consuming this process can be. Automating information collection and workflows can save firms a huge amount of administration time, and the fact that it integrates so well with Xero makes it even more appealing for businesses already working in the cloud.
Meanwhile, Ezyiah is exploring how artificial intelligence can analyse financial data and provide insights that would normally take accountants hours to produce manually. It’s a amazing example of how AI is starting to support accountants rather than replace them.
And these are just two examples. There are many more innovative products currently being built for our profession, often by accountants who understand exactly where the pain points are in day-to-day practice.
Over the coming months I’m planning to spend some time exploring and testing some of these new and exciting tools. My goal is to understand which ones genuinely help accountants work smarter and which innovations are really worth paying attention to.
Ultimately, my goal is simple: to help accountants stay future-proof and as someone who runs weekly training sessions upskilling accountants all over Australia, I am always curious about the new tech hitting the markets that can genuinely help improve the way accounting practices operate.
