From Trial Balance to Sign-Off: Financial Statements in Xero HQ, Workpapers with Claude

Friday 13th November

12pm - 1pm AEDT

1 x CPD hour

AI at every stage. You at every decision. A workpaper for every balance, ready for review.

WHAT THIS SESSION IS ABOUT

Year-end files often reach the reviewer with the same gaps: balances with no or minimum supporting workpaper, a different format for every client and every staff member, clearing and suspense accounts that should be nil, prior-year movements nobody has explained, and financial statements that don't tie back to the ledger.

As the practitioner, you're responsible for the file you sign off. AI doesn't change that, and it shouldn't. What it can change is how much time goes into building, checking and chasing workpapers.

In this live session, Neha walks through the full year-end file, from trial balance to sign-off. Your financial statement templates are set up in Xero HQ, and Claude assists with every workpaper along the way. Claude drafts and checks. Your team makes every decision.

THE WORKPAPER FILE YOU WILL LEARN TO BUILD

β†’ Lead schedule: the trial balance mapped to each workpaper
β†’ Bank and cash: bank reconciliation workpaper, with outstanding items listed and explained
β†’ Receivables and payables: aged listings reconciled to the balance sheet, with old or unusual items flagged
β†’ Prepayments and accruals: schedules with the calculation and support for each item
β†’ Fixed assets: additions, disposals and depreciation reconciled to the register
β†’ Loans and related parties: director loans and related-party balances flagged for your review, with no tax treatment applied
β†’ GST, PAYG and super: liability accounts reconciled to lodged BAS, payroll and super reports
β†’ Clearing and suspense: every account that should be nil, with an explanation for anything left over
β†’ Equity and movements: opening to closing balances, with prior-year movements explained

THEN YOU WILL SEE HOW TO

β†’ Set up financial statement templates in Xero HQ so every client file starts consistent
β†’ Use Claude to draft each workpaper from your Xero reports, with the reasoning written down
β†’ Run a review checklist before the file reaches the reviewer
β†’ Draft client queries for missing information with Claude, then edit and send them yourself
β†’ Keep a sign-off trail showing who prepared and who reviewed each workpaper, as the TPB Code expects
β†’ Protect client dataΒ

$99 inc GST. Replay available. 1 CPD hour.
